MICHELLE FONTENOT

Michelle Fontenot is a life long artist from Opelousas, Louisiana.

She attended USL in the early 80s with a focus on ceramics. 

Through the years she has dabbled in many different mediums, and has been associated

with various groups of professional artists. 

In the last 20 years she’s produced hundreds of stained glass and mosaic pieces. 

No matter the medium, she is constantly studying the social and emotional landscape

of the world around her. Never having had knowledge of a strange phenomenon others have reported on,

called “boredom”,  she has always been compelled to make marks on surfaces, or build something. 

She makes things right out of her imagination that represent her need to make physical, what she sees in her mind.  Sometimes it doesn’t need to be about anything at all other than a desire to create beautiful objects.
